The Truxton Circle neighborhood is 6 blocks north of Capitol Hill in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC. Many of the historic rowhouses were built in the late 1800s, and now sell for the low to mid $700k.
This gritty neighborhood suffered the riots of the 1960s and the crack epidemic of the 1980s. All corners of the Nation’s Capitol are undergoing dramatic transformations, which began with the development of the Metro subway transit service. Metro subway stations were placed strategically throughout the District of Columbia, and redevelopment began around each station. During the past decade, redevelopment has expanded to encompass the entire city. These architecturally-rich rowhouses are just off the corner of New York Avenue and North Capitol Street. On the corner is a well-known liquor store that has been the source of trouble for decades. My guess is that within the next 2 – 3 years, this liquor store will be replaced by a corner cafe and outdoor seating!
