Historic Chapman Stables Building

The Truxton Circle neighborhood is 6 blocks north of Capitol Hill in the northwest quadrant of Washington, DC. In the early 1900s, a brick structure was built to house the Chapman Coal Company Stables and Garage on N Street N.W. A century later, the brick structure is still standing and being redeveloped into more than 100 condominiums. Studio condominiums begin at approximately $300,000. This gritty neighborhood is just off the corner of New York Avenue and North Capitol Street. On the corner is a well-known liquor store that has been the source of trouble for decades. My guess is that within the next 2 – 3 years, this liquor store will be replaced by a corner cafe and outdoor seating!
